All of our men\u2019s support groups are held in our office located at 3550 Lexington Ave N, Shoreview, MN 55112. Our groups are all in-person and we do not have virtual groups.<\/p>\n
No. Our groups are not drop-in or crisis groups.\u00a0 Prior to being placed in a Face It group you are required to complete an in-person meeting with Mark Meier.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Our groups take place from 6:00-8:00pm and occur Monday \u2013 Thursday evenings and Sunday evenings. We have some limited morning options. All of our groups meet on an every other week basis and you are assigned to one specific group based largely on our availability and your schedule. We do have two groups specifically for men in their 20\u2019s, but otherwise we don\u2019t place you based on any other demographic categories.<\/p>\n
Face it is built on a peer support model. Our group facilitators are not therapists, but rather men who have spent time in a group and have volunteered to lead a group. We support our facilitators through trainings and discussions, but they are not \u201ccertified\u201d peer support specialists. Please note, we consider our facilitators as a regular member of the group, not just the leader.\u00a0 You can count on your facilitator to relate his own challenges and struggles.<\/p>\n
Face It has been built on the idea that men who struggle with depression (and a host of other mental health issues) are able to help other men in understanding they are not alone in this struggle. We also believe that by helping and guiding one another we are able to make changes in our beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives. Topics of conversation are wide-ranging and related to our wellness, recovery, and day-to-day challenges. The intent of the group is to create a larger group conversation for support, accountability, and recovery.\u00a0 Certainly, there is room for you to bring your specific concerns and challenges, but the goal is for all men in the group to relate, contribute and learn together.\u00a0<\/p>\n
